Talents & Gear

Talents

Your spec should be characterized as baseline defensive.

Focus on maximizing the power of your instant cast heals while maxing out my personal mitigation to allow yourself to depend fully on your hots without gimping your survival.

Talents reflect that playstyle so no HT spam here!

No matter what do NOT invest in empowered touch since you need your lifeblooms to always bloom in arena and having them refreshed by your flash heal would be problematic during periods of intense pressure.

To use in game simply reset your talent points and copy and paste the following string into /chat

/run t,p,a={3,22,43,53,61,73,92,101,123,142,153,161,171,181,193,201,211,1,13,32,43,61,2,21,}SetPreviewPrimaryTalentTree(t[1],GetActiveTalentGroup())for i=1,#t do a=t[i]if a<9 then p=a else AddPreviewTalentPoints(p,floor(a/10),a%10)end end

Resto Tree

Natural Shapeshifter: [2/2] Most of our plays in PvP rotate around timing effective use of our ToL- having  10 extra seconds gives us some more leeway! If only ToL worked like a buff so we could shift in and out!

Heart of the Wild: [3/3] Cookie cutter talent, int is our second best stat- only beaten by resilience!

Perseverance:  [3/3] An epic talent taking into account how bursty spellcleave can be, with resilience stacking and [Effulgent Shadowspirit Diamond] you can /mock mages and ele shamans.

Master Shapeshifter: [1/1] 4% flat healing boost.

Improved Rejuvenation: [3/3] Since rejuv and swiftmend are your two most used heals besides Lifebloom it really is a must have.

Revitalize: [2/2] Omnomnom delicious mana!

Nature’s Swiftness: [1/1] Insta cast cyclone is godlike- can’t live without it and I really depend on it.

Nature’s Bounty: [3/3]  60% crit bonus for Regrowth spam in ToL. /shrugs, can’t say I like spammy strats but it works.

Malfurion’s Gift: [2/2] Only way to get Omen of Clarity procs through healing now. =[

Effloresence: [3/3] Decent hot, plays real nice when running a melee cleave comp.

Wild Growth: [1/1] Needed to have ToL- can prove useful in large scale encounters such as BG’s or 5v5. As a general rule it doesn’t heal for enough and rejuv is cheap enough to use as a blanket.

Nature’s Cure: [1/1] Defensive dispelling of magic is an absolute must. If I have to explain why then…just no.

Nature’s Ward: [1/2] Situational. Can be useful but based on the ICD the proc is not dependable. Good enough to have just in case but ultimately a gambit- may save you but don’t depend on it.

Gift of the Earthmother: [3/3] With regrowth refreshing lifebloom I had to drop empowered touch- as a consequence I need my blooms to hit much harder.

Swift Rejuvenation: [1/1]  Ultimately with how cheap rejuv is its back in my talent tree since I can throw it around like priests throw mana burn. A meh talent but you need 31 points to be able to invest in other trees unfortunately.

Tree of Life: [1/1] Invest in it for roleplay purposes- the texture is nice. ;D JUST KIDDING ToL IS AWESOME OMG.

Feral Tree

Furor: [1/3] Delicious mana and having energy on hand to interrupt- nothing else needs to be said!

Balance Tree

Nature’s Grace: [3/3] You need to invest in something to reach the sexier talents and faster casts are always a plus.

Nature’s Majesty: [2/2] Same reason as above and flat crit buff is actually quite nice since our HoT’s now crit.

Genesis: [3/3] Stronger hots and swiftment + longer dots. Whats not to love?

Balance of Power: [1/2] KABOOM HIT CAPPED BABY! Fantastic talent I like it muchly and simplifies our gear itemization greatly.

Glyphs

Prime

Glyph of Lifebloom: Crit affects ticks and final bloom! Taking into account that lifebloom will be the most effect spell in your healing arsenal this glyph is a no brainer.

Glyph of Swiftmend: A cookie cutter glyph, no explanation needed.

Glyph of Rejuv: extra rejuv oomph is always always a good thing. ;)

Major

Glyph of Barkskin: Barkskin is undispellable and a great way to lessen pressure when rogues and ferals open and aim to burn you down popping all CD’s. My fav glyph.

Glyph of Entangling Roots:Kinda sucks now but still .2 is .2…and its not like we have better glyphs available!

Glyph of Frenzied Regen: Roll a stack of Lifebloom, go bear and pop this. Enjoy the 40k+ heal ;D Nice when getting trained by melee.

Minor

Glyph of unburdened rebirth: When killing dragons. All minors suck so tbh go with what you want!

Glyph of Aquatic form: vashjr was never more fun! Underwater ganking! ;D

Glyph of the Treant: A necessity. The base ToL form looks retarded.

Stat Priority

Resilience is truly godlike since the less damage you take the less heals you have to cast- with around 40% mitigation you should be able to keep yourself up against any dps 1v2 using only your hots and swiftmend as heals and of course timing your cds.

Mitigation is our best stat, without mitigation you will be forced to use slow heals like healing touch to keep yourself up which leaves you vulnerable to interrupts and positional switches.

Depending solely on your hots with swiftmend and quick regrowths gives you options and allows you to dictate where you will take the fight.

While tank and spanking is a viable strategy against some comps (would prefer if mages focused me rather than my partner due to perseverance and my meta gem!) its not usually advisable to be forced into this situation.

The other stat we need is our all in one stat- intellect. It offers us mana regen through revitalize, replenishment and innervate all the while making our spells hit harder and crit more often.

All other stats are mediocre.

Resilience>Intellect>Mastery/Haste>Crit

Simple as that.

1 point in Balance of Power will take care of the hit cap (easily) and all you need besides that is spell penetration which is basically:

97 for mark/kings
145 for mark/kings + mage armor
195 for shaman totem
240 for shaman totem + mage armor

I use the cloak enchant +spell pen cloak enchant simply for the ease of itemizing, in practice cloak enchant+ 2gems in desirable bonus slots is slightly better and grants you 170 spell pen which is good enough against most comps.

Gems & 'Chants

Gems

Brilliant inferno Ruby in all slots since as a general rule: Raw int>bonus.

Meta: I use Effulgent Shadowspirit diamond and I can’t recommend it enough! It really is a game changer with perseverance and resi stacking and use 1 Mystic Amberjewel to activate it!

If you feel like a tank against spell casters you can switch to Destructive Shadowspirit Diamond for some RNG love. Not a big fan of the +2% mana meta since I hardly ever oom and with drain mechanics nerfed I don’t foresee it as a game changer while reflecting a fear can be the difference between winning or losing a match. Reflecting is nice but don’t depend on it 'cos rng is rng.

Enchants

For chants the best you can get/afford while using the stat priority layed out above. resi>int. Its pretty easy to see what is available and whats best for you but just cos am a nice guy-

Gear

In patch 4.2 we can no longer use 2 piece boomkin + 3 piece resto set since the 2 pieces bonus no longer stacks.

Aww shucks- well it was fun while it lasted. On the flip side it makes gearing so much easier- full PvP Kodohide.

End of.

For the weapon go for what you like;  the stats difference is minimal since the enchant for the offhand makes up for any other loss (just about) and it allows you to kill 5/5 totems quickly but thats a fringe benefit.

Which do you find prettier is my general advice concerning the wep choice. Right now I am using 1h+offhand because the staff is ugly and breaking totems quickly is fun but if the staff next season is good looking I will switch to staff.

 Vain tree is vain.

For trinkets the choice is simple;

Resilience trinket + Tsunami or similar. Period.

If you cant afford Tsunami get the best you can get in terms of resi/int. Pick your poison- trinkets are totally situational and as healers it wont be a complete game changer. Although a sexy mana trinket like tsunami is just insane. ;)
